Non-cancerous prostate enlargement is a very common affliction seen in many mature men. It is associated with hormonal changes due to ageing. Enlargement of the prostate can strangle the urine-flow, since the prostate gland surrounds the urethra. As a result of this obstruction in the urine flow, incomplete emptying of the bladder occurs leading to an increase in the frequency of urination.  At night, this leads to disturbances in sleep patterns.
