Immunity provides powerful immune-supportive ingredients, such as vitamin C, vitamin D3, zinc, and a unique blend of phytonutrients. This formula is to be taken at the very first sign of a cold; it may also be taken preventatively. Immune cells are necessary to activate vitamin D, which is an important mechanism for regulating maturation and promoting immune responses in cells. Therefore, immunity may be compromised under conditions of vitamin D insufficiency. Zinc directly affects immune function and even a mild zinc deficiency suppresses immunity. Zinc stimulates phagocytosis, activates T-cell function and influences Th1 cytokines, which defend against intracellular pathogens. The major role of vitamin C is to protect immune cells against free radical damage. Vitamin C concentrations in the plasma and leukocytes rapidly decline during acute illness and stress. Andrographis, a shrub that is sometimes called Indian Echinacea, helps reduce the symptoms of the common cold and upper respiratory tract infections. Used since ancient times in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Astragalus is mostly known for its immune-stimulating properties and antioxidant activity.
