5-HTP, the intermediate metabolite between the amino acid L-tryptophan and serotonin, is extracted from the seed of an African plant (Griffonia simplicifolia). 5-HTP readily crosses the blood-brain barrier and increases central nervous system (CNS) synthesis of serotonin. DIRECTIONS

Adult Dosage: Take 3 chewable tablets, 3 times daily, 30 minutes prior to a meal. To minimize the risk of gastrointestinal side effects, start dosing at 1 tablet, 2 - 3 times per day and slowly increase to effective dose over a 2 week period.
